Pattern

A Cryptic spren from Shadesmar and the bonded spren of Shallan, to whom she gives the name Pattern. His bond grants her the Surges of Illumination and Transformation and makes her a Lightweaver. He is drawn to lies, urges her to face her buried past, and warns that breaking her oaths would destroy him.

1. Pattern's bond with Shallan begins when she is a young girl; she pushes him away, and he is present in the aftermath of her mother's death. source

1. Shallan first sees Pattern in her sketchpad and then in the surface of a wave while sailing on the Wind's Pleasure. source
2. Shallan draws Pattern and he steps out of the page, a drawing that pulls him fully into the Physical Realm and renews the bond. source
3. Pattern tells Shallan his true name is a string of numbers and accepts Pattern as a name. source
4. Pattern presses Shallan to reclaim the memories and abilities she has cut off, saying their bond is meant for more than tricks of light. source
5. Pattern tells Shallan she will one day betray her oaths and break his mind, and says the chance is worth the cost. source
6. Shallan summons her Shardblade into the Oathgate mechanism and learns how to make it work. source

2. In Kholinar, Veil has Pattern cling to a hallway wall near Kharat during the revel. source
