Taravangian

King of Kharbranth, publicly a kindly and slow-witted ruler who builds hospitals and shelters a great library. Secretly a schemer whose wits swing from day to day after a bargain with the Nightwatcher, he wrote the Diagram, sent Szeth to kill rulers, took the throne of Jah Keved, joined Dalinar's coalition while plotting to replace him, and struck a deal with Odium. Szeth later kills him and he becomes Odium.

1. After Jah Keved's short civil war, the dying King Valam names Taravangian his successor, making him King of Jah Keved. source
2. Szeth tells him of another Radiant; Taravangian orders him to kill Dalinar, keep clear of Kaladin, and consults the Diagram. source

1. He tours Urithiru with Dalinar, riding the lift to the top of the tower. source
2. After the Everstorm he offers Queen Fen the use of his surgeons for the suffering in Thaylen City. source
3. Rereading the Diagram, he decides Dalinar must be supported rather than killed, so that the coalition can later force him aside. source
4. Dalinar accuses him of abandoning Thaylen City; Taravangian admits he expected Dalinar to fall, and ends the book bound to a deal with Odium. source

1. Szeth kills Taravangian, who ascends to godhood and becomes Odium. source
