Rathalas

Also called the Rift, a large Alethi city built inside a rip in the ground, home to the Rifters. It resisted Alethkar's unity under Gavilar, and Dalinar's assault with Sadeas set its timber foundations alight. The city burned in 1163 and was never rebuilt.

1. The Rifters demand Dalinar's Shardblade back and back Tanalan's heir, while Gavilar tries diplomacy rather than force. source
2. With too few boats for a water assault, Dalinar marches on the walls from the west while Sadeas comes in from the east. source
3. The Alethi break through and drop oil and fire on the city, which burns; Dalinar captures the heir, learns from him that Evi died there, and strangles him. source
4. The king censures Dalinar and Sadeas for the loss of the city, and Sadeas spins a version of events. source
