Xu Shang-Chi, son of Wenwu and Ying Li, was raised in the Ten Rings compound and trained as an assassin. At fourteen he carried out a killing for his father, then fled to San Francisco and lived as Shaun. In 2024 the Ten Rings found him, and he, his sister Xialing and Katy Chen reached Ta Lo, where he inherited the Ten Rings and helped end the Dweller-in-Darkness. Wong then recruited him.

- 1999 · Cinematic: Shang-Chi is born to Wenwu and Ying Li and raised at the Ten Rings headquarters in the mountains of China.
- 2014 · Cinematic: At fourteen he kills the Iron Gang leader for his father, then refuses to return home and flees to the United States.
- 2017 · Cinematic: After graduating high school in San Francisco under the name Shaun, he and Katy Chen take valet jobs at the Fairmont.
- 2018 · Cinematic: He survives the Snap.
- 2024 · Cinematic: Ten Rings agents attack him on a San Francisco bus and take his pendant, and he flies with Chen to Macau.
- 2024 · Cinematic: At the Golden Daggers Club in Macau he is forced to fight his sister Xialing, then Death Dealer and Wenwu seize them and fly them to the Ten Rings headquarters.
- 2024 · Cinematic: With Xialing, Chen, Trevor Slattery and Morris he escapes the headquarters and drives through the bamboo forest into Ta Lo.
- 2024 · Cinematic: In Ta Lo his aunt Ying Nan teaches him his mother's fighting style.
- 2024 · Cinematic: At the Battle of Ta Lo he faces Wenwu, who frees the Dweller-in-Darkness and sacrifices himself to save his son, leaving Shang-Chi the Ten Rings.
- 2024 · Cinematic: Back in San Francisco, Wong recruits him and Chen and takes them to Kamar-Taj, where the rings are found to have sent out a beacon.
