A warlord made immortal by ten rings roughly a thousand years ago, Wenwu founded the Ten Rings and conquered across Asia. In 1996 he met and married Ta Lo's gatekeeper Ying Li and fathered Shang-Chi and Xialing. After the Iron Gang killed her in 2007 he took the rings back. In 2024 he led his army to Ta Lo, unleashed the Dweller-in-Darkness and died saving Shang-Chi.

  1. 1996 · Cinematic: Seeking Ta Lo, Wenwu loses his men in the bamboo forest, is beaten by its gatekeeper Ying Li and falls in love with her.
  2. 2007 · Cinematic: The Iron Gang kills Ying Li, and Wenwu puts the rings back on and slaughters the gang members.
  3. 2008 · Cinematic: The Ten Rings deal with Obadiah Stane for Stark Industries weapons and kidnap Tony Stark in Afghanistan.
  4. 2013 · Cinematic: Wenwu has Trevor Slattery taken from Seagate Penitentiary after Aldrich Killian used the Mandarin name, and keeps him as a court jester.
  5. 2014 · Cinematic: Wenwu sends fourteen-year-old Shang-Chi to kill the Iron Gang leader, and the boy disappears afterwards.
  6. 2024 · Cinematic: Hearing his dead wife's voice, Wenwu takes Shang-Chi's pendant through Razor Fist and has Xialing and Katy seized at the Golden Daggers Club in Macau.
  7. 2024 · Cinematic: At his headquarters Wenwu uses both pendants to reveal the path to Ta Lo, then jails his children when they refuse to join him.
  8. 2024 · Cinematic: Wenwu leads the Ten Rings into Ta Lo, fights Shang-Chi and his sister beside the village, and breaks the Dark Gate, freeing the Dweller-in-Darkness.
  9. 2024 · Cinematic: The Dweller drains Wenwu's soul and kills him after he passes the ten rings to Shang-Chi.
