Asteroid M is the name of any orbital space station Magneto has built around Earth as a hidden mutant base, with observation decks, hangars and medical bays. It has been destroyed and rebuilt many times, by the X-Men, Warlock, the Acolytes and Xorn among others. The wreck of the first station was raised from the sea off San Francisco to become the mutant island Utopia.

- Silver · Comics: The first Asteroid M is wrecked in a fight with the X-Men after Scarlet Witch sabotages a trap and crashes off the coast of San Francisco.
- Bronze · Comics: The second version is built after Magneto reduces the X-Men to infants in his Antarctic citadel.
- Bronze · Comics: The alien Warlock collides with the second station and breaks it apart.
- Modern · Comics: Magneto retrieves technology from the fallen pieces while the X-Men destroy the rest of the station.
- Modern · Comics: At the third station Magneto shelters Scarlet Witch and the West Coast Avengers attack it.
- Modern · Comics: The Acolytes take shelter on the third station, and Fabian Cortez destroys it with nuclear missiles.
- Modern · Comics: The wreckage crashes into the Middle East where Forge and government officials inspect it.
- Modern · Comics: Magneto's larger station Avalon, built from Asteroid M's pieces, is destroyed during a fight between Holocaust and Exodus.
- Modern · Comics: A flashback issue shows Magneto completing the first station just before recruiting Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.
