Comics
Jotunheim is a cold, barren Ten Realms world of near-permanent winter on the middle tier of Yggdrasil beside Midgard, home to many giant races. Its chief city is Utgard. It is a frequent battleground with Asgard and Earth, was wiped out during Ragnarok and later restored, and later became the setting for Malekith's dealings with the Frost Giants and the resurrection of Laufey.
Cinematic
Jotunheim is one of the Nine Realms and home of the Frost Giants, with Utgard as its capital. After Odin took the Casket of Ancient Winters in the 965 A.D. war with Asgard, the realm started to decay. Thor's party was nearly killed there, Loki later made a deal with Laufey and then tried to destroy the realm with the Bifrost, and in 2013 the Convergence let a Frost Beast through to London.
