A Human Starfleet lieutenant commander and helmsman of the Enterprise under Kirk, his old Academy friend. In 2265 the Enterprise crossed the galactic barrier and Mitchell developed vast psionic powers and a contempt for others. Kirk fought him on Delta Vega and buried him under rock.

Timeline 4

1. 2265 Passing through the galactic barrier, the Enterprise leaves Mitchell exposed to energies that begin to give him psionic powers. source
2. 2265 The damaged Enterprise reaches Delta Vega, where Kirk tries to maroon the changing Mitchell. source
3. 2265 Mitchell escapes confinement on Delta Vega, kills a crewman and takes Dr. Dehner with him. source
4. 2265 Dehner turns on Mitchell and dies weakening him, and Kirk kills him by burying him under a collapsed hillside. source
