Japanese-born linguist who left a teaching post in Brazil to become communications officer of Enterprise NX-01 in 2151. She became fluent in dozens of languages, helped decipher Xindi and Klingon material, attended the founding of the Federation in 2161, and later developed the linguacode translation matrix.

  6. 2155 During the Terra Prime crisis she is left in command of Enterprise and refuses to destroy the array on schedule. source
