A Starfleet commander and medical researcher who served as chief medical officer of the Enterprise-D in 2365 while Beverly Crusher led Starfleet Medical. Wary of the transporter and of Data at first, she grew to respect him. She had a past romance with Kyle Riker, and left the ship before Crusher returned in 2366.
