A Brooklyn-born journalist hailed as the hero of Vienna after Zemo's bombing, Mace is given the Patriot serum and installed as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. while posing as an Inhuman. His secret is exposed by the Watchdogs, he serves under Coulson, and he is kidnapped and replaced by a decoy. Locked into the Framework, he leads the Inhuman resistance and dies holding up a collapsing building.
