Niflheim / Hel
2017, Cinematic: Odin dies, which frees Hela from her prison.
Comics
Niffleheim, traditionally Niflheim, is the Ten Realms world of ice, mist, darkness and death on the lowest level of the cosmos. It holds Hel, the realm of the dead ruled by Hela, with the shore Nastrond where Nidhogg devours corpses. Its cold met the fire of Muspelheim across the primordial void in the creation of the realms.
Cinematic
One of the Nine Realms, containing the region Hel. Odin imprisoned his daughter Hela there ages ago after she tried to conquer the realms, killing the Valkyrie except Brunnhilde when she nearly broke out. Odin bound the prison to his own life. His death in 2017 released her. The realm was visible during the 2013 Convergence.
