Fresh Start, Comics: Malekith kills Brunnhilde in Manhattan as the last Valkyrie standing, and Jane Foster then takes up the Valkyrie name.

Cinematic

Brunnhilde, last survivor of Asgard's Valkyrie after Hela's slaughter, exiled herself to Sakaar as the scrapper Scrapper 142. In 2017 she captured Thor, then joined him as a Revenger, escaped Sakaar, and fought Hela in Asgard. She led Asgardian survivors to Earth, became king of New Asgard in 2023, fought Gorr in 2025, and in 2026 helped evacuate Skrull refugees.

Comics

Brunnhilde is the Asgardian shield-maiden Odin made the first Valkyrie, a chooser of the slain. The sorceress Amora trapped her essence for centuries and lent her powers to mortal hosts, until she broke free and spent years with the Defenders on Earth. She later served with the Secret Avengers and the Asgardians of the Galaxy, and died fighting Malekith in Manhattan.
