A Romulan mining ship from 2387 is thrown back in time and attacks the Kelvin in 2233, splitting history. Twenty-five years later Nero destroys Vulcan, and a rebellious Kirk, Spock and the young Enterprise crew, aided by the older Spock, stop him over Earth.
